A Barnyard tale
This summer, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE) re-created a storybook farm for a family in need in South Central Pennsylvania and called upon us to make some of their animal housing a reality. EMHE designers envisioned housing goats inside a circular grain bin.
Hershey Equipment Co., Inc. in cooperation with Grain Services, Inc. (GSI) donated and adapted a grain storage tank for the purpose of creating the "goat hotel". Hershey Equipment service technicians and fabricators worked on site with EMHE staff to turn an ordinary grain bin into an extraordinary hotel for goats, complete with spiral staircases, windows, doors and its own chandelier!
Of course, it was the first "goat hotel" we ever built—and quite possibly, the first "goat hotel" from a corrugated grain storage tank ever built! It was fun being creative with EMHE designers to make their vision a reality. And it was an honor to work with the terrific folks of the EMHE show and watch as thousands of volunteers built a farm in a week.
We wish success and storybook happiness for the Urban family! It was a pleasure for us to help be a part of the Urban Fairy Tale!
